We begin the year with some infectious disease challenges.
The CDC and World Heath Organization (WHO) are closely monitoring an ever-growing outbreak of a novel (new) coronavirus-COVID-19. The virus originated in Wuhan, China and has spread to numerous countries.
Individual infected with the virus have experienced severe respiratory symptoms, including pneumonia in both lungs and over 200 have died as of mid-February. This update will discuss how to access accurate information regarding disease outbreaks, precautions that dental practices should take, screening patients and wearing the correct respiratory protection. These precautions are important for influenza and other respiratory viruses, as well as COVID-19 and should be adhered to all times.
After the completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe risk to health care worked from exposure to respiratory viruses.
- Discuss protocols for screening patients and health care workers for conditions that affects treatment and work restrictions
